FAQs
What is Men &?
Men & (“Men And”, menand.ca) is a free national Canadian platform providing mental health and relationship support specifically designed for men. We connect men across Canada with trusted resources, self-guided tools, 24/7 helpline support, and local services to help with mental health challenges, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and personal growth. Men & is a social venture from Forge: Centre for Dignity-Driven Leadership, and delivered in partnership with Fear Is Not Love.
Who is Men & for?
Men & is for any man in Canada who wants support with mental health, relationships, or personal challenges. This includes men dealing with:
- Anxiety, depression, or stress
- Relationship conflicts or breakdown
- Anger management concerns
- Life transitions (divorce, job loss, fatherhood, aging)
- Feelings of isolation or loneliness
- Questions about becoming a better partner or father
- Concerns about their own behaviour in relationships
- Trauma or past abuse
- General personal development and growth
You don't need to be in crisis to use Men &. Whether you're struggling significantly or just looking to improve yourself, our resources are here for you.
Why focus specifically on men's mental health?
Our research shows that men can spend up to two years searching online for do-it-yourself resources before accessing professional services. Men face unique cultural barriers to seeking help, including societal expectations around masculinity and self-reliance. Our approach addresses these specific challenges while providing accessible, non-judgmental support.
Is Men & only for men who have been violent?
No. While Men & does provide support for men concerned about their behaviour in relationships, we serve all men seeking mental health and relationship support. Our resources address anxiety, depression, stress, fatherhood, healthy relationships, life transitions, personal growth, and many other topics relevant to men's wellbeing. The platform is designed for any man who wants to live a healthier, more connected life.
How much does Men & cost?
Men & is completely free to use. All of our online resources, articles, self-guided tools, and the national directory are available at no cost. Our 24/7 helpline (1-833-327-MENS) is also free to call. Some services in our directory may have their own fees, but we always indicate free or sliding-scale options when available.
