Safety Comes Before Repair
A relationship can’t heal while it is unsafe. Relationships require care, honesty, and effort to remain healthy. When someone has caused harm, those qualities become even more important. Repair may be possible, but it must begin with safety, accountability, and a clear understanding of what needs to change.
What to do when you hurt someone you love
Repair begins when you acknowledge what you did, understand how it affected others, and take concrete steps to prevent it from happening again. An apology may be part of that work, but words alone can’t restore safety or trust.
Repair Starts with Responsibility
Repair can help people move forward, even when the relationship ends. Before attempting it, the people involved need to be safe. A person who caused harm should be able to manage their emotions, understand what they are responsible for, and acknowledge what happened without minimizing it.
